Toronto, ON | Claude R. Lamoureux was the President and Chief Executive Officer at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. He joined the firm in 1990. Mr. Lamoureux was responsible for overseeing the investment of the plan’s assets and the administration of the pensions of 264,000 current and retired teachers in Ontario. He joined after the province established an independent corporation to manage the pension plan. Previously, Mr. Lamoureux has spent 25 years at Metropolitan Life in Canada and the United States. Before that, he was a President and Chief Executive Officer at Metropolitan Life Holdings Limited. Mr. Lamoureux was the Vice President of Group Insurance, Vice-President of Pension and Financial Services at MetLife in the United States. In this capacity, he was responsible for all operations of Metropolitan Life in Canada. Mr. Lamoureux was appointed to a ten-member committee under the aegis of the Toronto, Vancouver, and Alberta stock exchanges, as well as the Investment Dealers Association of Canada. The committee is examining practices and activities of brokerage house analysts, and will write national guidelines and press for Canada wide standards. He serves as the Chairman of Cordiant Capital. Mr. Lamoureux is a Director at Domtar, the OSC Investor Education Fund, The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Canadian Investor Protection Fund, and the International Corporate Governance Network. He also serves as the Director and Member of Corporate Governance, Nominating, and Compensation Committee at Atrium Innovations Inc. He is the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee at the Public Service Pension Investment Board. Mr. Lamoureux has been active on the Toronto Stock Exchange Board as a Member of the Task Force on Corporate Governance and, recently of the Review Committee on the Work of Financial Analysts. He is a Co-Founder and avid supporter of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance, and Chair of the coalition’s Public Policy Subcommittee. As well, he is the Chair of the Accounting and Auditing Practices Committee of the International Corporate Governance Network, and a Member of the International Pensions Conference. Mr. Lamoureux is Non-Executive Director of Northumbrian Water Group PLC, Domtar Inc and Finch Asset Management Inc. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, the Society of Actuaries, and the Institute of Corporate Directors. He received his B.A. from the University of Montreal and his B. Com. (Actuarial Science) from Laval University.
