EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – FAIR CANADA
FAIR Canada is an independent national charitable organization. As a voice for Canadian investors, FAIR Canada provides information and education to the public, governments and regulators about investors’ rights and protections in Canada’s capital markets.
The FAIR Canada Board’s is looking to recruit an Executive Director to lead the organization whose mission is to be a catalyst for enhancing the rights of Canadian investors and consumers of financial products and services, including being a national voice for investors in securities regulation. This is an extraordinary opportunity to play an integral part in the Canadian capital markets regulatory landscape advancing the interests of investors and the integrity and fairness of Canadian capital markets.
The Executive Director is accountable for delivering on FAIR Canada’s strategic priorities, reporting on FAIR Canada’s activities to the Board of Directors; management of FAIR Canada’s administrative functions; developing and promoting its profile; and managing relations/communications with stakeholders including regulators, the general public and the media. This is a pivotal opportunity for a senior leader with a passion and drive for retail investor rights and ability to advocate diligently for those rights.
Success in this role will require an energetic leadership style in both strategy and execution. The Executive Director will have superior relationship and communications skills and the drive/energy to move multiple strategic priorities forward in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. This externally facing role calls for a sophisticated executive with deep experience and understanding of financial regulatory environments, strategic and operational skills, and proven experience in the securities industry and its regulatory/legal environment – particularly with the retail-facing side of capital markets. This leader will be adept at quickly assessing and dealing with issues, opportunities and challenges affecting FAIR.
