Toronto Star’s Ellen Roseman points out how Fund Facts risk disclosure fails to inform retail investors and calls on regulators to fix the problem. The industry is calculating risk based on volatility while investors really want to know how much money they can lose. FAIR Canada also agrees that Fund Facts should include appropriate benchmarks to allow retail investors to evaluate a fund’s performance.
