FAIR Canada would like to commend the OSC for securing 27 month convictions for two individuals involved in running a boiler room operation. At the time the OSC executed a search warrant at their Markham offices, the defendants were actively soliciting investors across Canada using high pressure sales tactics along with false and misleading information and had raised approximately $250,000.
We strongly support the OSC’s efforts in prosecuting breaches of the Securities Act, and congratulate them on their success in prosecuting this case. We believe strong enforcement programs are an effective deterrent to investor exploitation.
