Elizabeth Warren Please Come to Canada

While Canada muddles along without meaningful improvements in investor protection, the US, UK, Australia, the EU and Hong Kong—virtually all developed countries— are undertaking major reforms to improve investor protection. Among other major changes, the US is in the process of creating a new agency called the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection.

The Globe and Mail’s Joanna Slater had an interesting story on Elizabeth Warren, a potential candidate to head this new agency.  If she does not get the job perhaps Minister Duncan can persuade her to move to Canada and become the new chair of the OSC, a position which we understand will be vacant on November 1, 2010.

If you enjoy the Globe story you may enjoy seeing the interview of Ms Warren on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
